Two year old hidden under luggage in car speeding through Glen Iris. Febuary 6
Passengers in an overcrowded car with an unrestrained two-year-old tried to cover the child with luggage when pulled over by police.
Officers intercepted the Dandenong grandfather’s car in Glen Iris after he was nabbed doing 109km/h in an 80km/h zone of the Monash Fwy about 9pm.
When speaking to the man, police saw six people in the five-seater car who were trying to disguise the toddler.
Stonington Highway Patrol Sgt Mick Free said the 46-year-old driver told officers the group – including the toddler’s parents - was going to the airport.
"Apparently the parents of the child couldn’t get a babysitter so everyone went," Sgt Free said.
